Garrett's Hypotonia Story

This is the blog about my son, Garrett. He was born in 2003 with hypotonia, but he does not have a diagnosis. His hypotonia seems to be mild to moderate.

Miscellaneous Update

A few things happening around here...

Garrett started preschool last week, and I think he enjoys it. He can't really tell us if he likes it or not, but he says "gool" (school) when he wakes up. I'm going to take that as a good sign that he likes going to school. He goes M-Th for 3 hours in the morning. Rylan is getting some much needed one-on-one time with me. He gets so excited to see Garrett after school though. Those 2 really enjoy each others company.

Tomorrow is a big day for Garrett. He will have an ultrasound of his heart. We have to be there at 7:30am, and he will be under anesthesia so that he holds still. I am hoping the results will be read immedately afterward. I hate waiting for the results of tests! I'm already on edge about him having a heart defect. The unknown is the part that drives me crazy.

The bright green cast comes off next Tuesday! Woo hoo!! I am so sick of that thing. Poor Garrett must hate it even more. Bath time is such a pain, and we really can't do the normal things we were doing pre-broken leg. I hope he is willing and able to start attempting to walk soon after the cast is off. I'm not expecting him to stand up and take off the minute the cast comes off, but I am hoping he will at least bear weight on his leg shortly after. Dave and I are leaving for a week long cruise the Saturday after his cast comes off. I just hope he is making an attempt to walk by that time.
